About the position

Our client is looking for a litigation legal assistant to handle a diverse range of tasks, including delivering top-tier customer service and support while consistently producing exceptional work. The legal assistant will maintain a broad understanding of the litigation practice groups and possess specialized knowledge of the assigned attorneys' practice areas and clients to ensure outstanding client satisfaction. This role is crucial in supporting attorneys in their daily operations and ensuring that all legal processes run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The legal assistant will be responsible for overseeing the daily schedules of attorneys, ensuring efficient time management and proactive planning. This includes managing calendars for appointments, meetings, travel, and other scheduling needs. Additionally, the legal assistant will assist in the creation, editing, and proofreading of legal documents to ensure accuracy and professionalism. They will also prepare and maintain spreadsheets and databases related to legal files, ensuring all information is up-to-date and easily accessible. The role requires processing reimbursements, expense reports, and check requests, ensuring timely and accurate handling of financial matters. Effective project management is essential, as the legal assistant will need to adhere to deadlines and conduct necessary follow-ups to ensure successful completion of tasks. Timekeeping is another critical responsibility, involving inputting, reviewing, editing, and finalizing time entries through the firm's web-based time entry program. The legal assistant will also handle monthly client billing, review prebills for accuracy, and perform client, matter, and timekeeper inquiries as needed. Maintaining organized work files, including regular filing and preparing files for off-site storage, is also part of the job. Upholding the highest standards of confidentiality for all Firm and client information, records, and files is paramount in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in litigation as a legal assistant is required.
  • Proficient in legal billing and legal research.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience with scheduling and managing calendars.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
