The responsibilities of this position include communicating with clients and attorneys to assist in preparing responses to written discovery and document productions, as well as preparing for depositions and trials. The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will be responsible for drafting pleadings, motions, and written discovery in civil litigation, while maintaining strict confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of client representation. Additionally, the role involves searching for and studying legal documents to investigate the facts and law of cases, determining causes of action, and preparing cases accordingly. The candidate will also prepare affidavits of documents, maintain document files and case correspondence, and revise and file pleadings, petitions, and other documents relevant to court actions. A critical aspect of this role is tracking and maintaining a deadline calendar to ensure compliance with court, statutory, and other deadlines. The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication abilities, and the capacity to perform tasks with minimal supervision. The ability to prioritize, multi-task, take initiative, and meet deadlines is essential, along with a high level of efficiency and accuracy in handling detailed work. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Exchange, Outlook), as well as familiarity with Centerbase or similar billing systems, is required. Experience in bankruptcy law is considered a plus.
