The Registry, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. This full-time position is focused on providing support in litigation defense and business transactions, particularly in areas related to medical malpractice, insurance defense, personal injury defense, and healthcare law. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling medical records and a comprehensive understanding of the legal processes involved in litigation. This role is essential in ensuring that our legal team operates efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of our firm. As a Legal Assistant/Paralegal, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are crucial to the legal process. This includes requesting and summarizing medical records, managing e-filing with state and federal courts, and maintaining accurate docketing. You will also be expected to have proficiency in using legal document management systems and software such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are vital, as you will be formatting, proofreading, editing, and finalizing legal documents. The position is 100% in-office, located in downtown Indianapolis, and offers a positive work environment where employees are valued and respected. The pay range for this position is competitive, between $25 to $35 per hour, depending on experience and education. Responsibilities

  • Support the firm in litigation defense and business transactions.
  • Request and summarize medical records and chronologies.
  • Manage e-filing with state and federal courts.
  • Maintain accurate docketing and calendar management.
  • Format, proof, edit, convert, and finalize legal documents.
  • Enter attorney time and manage calendars effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of recent litigation defense experience in a law office.
  • Experience requesting and summarizing medical records/chronologies.
  • Knowledge of the litigation process and court rules and procedures.
  • Proficiency in e-filing with state and federal courts.
  • Experience with docketing and calendar management.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and Document Management Systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with legal documents: format, proof, edit, convert, finalize, etc.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
