SJJ is seeking a full-time experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant for our Litigation department at our Bloomington, MN office. SJJ is a leader in construction and insurance law, and we are looking to add to our growing team. This position will support attorneys primarily in litigation, and there will be a healthy mix of drafting letters, communicating with clients, drafting pleadings, and managing attorneys' calendars. The successful candidate must have at least 1 year of experience and have the ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a deadline-oriented litigation environment. You must also demonstrate the ability to work independently, support, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgement in carried situations. The preferred candidate will have experience with the following: Assisting attorneys with client intake; Organizing and maintaining litigation files; Calendaring and monitoring relevant deadlines; Drafting and proofing correspondence and pleadings; Reviewing and summarizing documents and other discovery materials; Working with retained experts; Managing attorney schedules; and Assisting attorneys with trial preparation. We expect all candidates to have the customary qualifications, including: A paralegal degree or certificate from an accredited institution or equivalent experience; Excellent attention to detail, proofreading skills, and grammar; Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite and .pdf creation and editing software; Experience e-filing materials with the Minnesota state and federal courts; and A demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team.
