About the position

We are assisting a highly reputable Law Firm with their search for a talented and experienced Legal Assistant/Paralegal in suburban Berks County, PA. This position is a direct hire opportunity with no fees to the applicant, allowing for a confidential application process. The firm offers a supportive and engaging work environment, with private parking available for employees. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week, although there is an option to work up to 40 hours if preferred. The pay for this position ranges from $23.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience, with lucrative bonus potential based on performance. Additionally, employees are eligible for a SEP pension plan, generous paid time off, and significant bonuses based on their contributions to the firm. The firm specializes in various areas of law, including Real Estate, Business, Estate, and Municipal law. Candidates with related legal experience are highly desired. The primary responsibilities of the Legal Assistant/Paralegal include assisting the Senior Partner of the firm by conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, maintaining case files, assisting with court filings, and communicating with clients. The role also involves providing general administrative support to attorneys, scheduling appointments, and organizing or attending meetings. This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and have a passion for the legal field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries of laws, regulations, and legal articles
  • Draft and proofread legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and contracts
  • Organize and maintain legal files and documents
  • Assist with case preparation and coordination
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel
  • Schedule appointments and maintain attorney calendars
  • Assist with court filings and other administrative tasks as needed
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys

Requirements

  • Paralegal degree preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of prior experience working in a law firm required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Knowledge of Lackner 6 in 1 estate software a plus
  • Notary Public preferred, firm willing to pay for Notary education and license
  • Proficiency in legal research databases and software
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
