About the position

Durkin & Durkin, LLC, a West Caldwell law firm, is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team in the Real Estate and Commercial Transactional area. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail, which are essential for managing various legal documents and transactions. This position offers a pleasant working environment and the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys in a supportive setting. We welcome both full-time and part-time applicants, providing flexibility in work hours to accommodate different schedules. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience, ranging from $17 to $28 per hour, depending on qualifications and expertise. The expected hours for this role will be between 20 to 40 hours per week, allowing for a balance between professional responsibilities and personal commitments.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents and correspondence related to real estate and commercial transactions.
• Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documents are up to date and easily accessible.
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other resources to support case preparation.
• Communicate with clients, vendors, and other parties involved in transactions to gather necessary information and documentation.
• Maintain a calendar of deadlines and appointments, ensuring timely completion of tasks and filings.

Requirements

• Proficient in Microsoft Office with at least 2 years of experience in a legal setting.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Experience with Westlaw for legal research purposes.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in real estate or commercial law is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
