About the position

We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to our legal staff and contribute to the efficient operation of our legal department. This role is crucial in ensuring that our legal processes run smoothly and effectively. The Legal Assistant will be involved in various tasks that support the legal team, including conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and managing case files. The position requires a proactive individual who can handle multiple responsibilities and communicate effectively with clients and court personnel. In this role, you will conduct legal research and assist in the preparation of legal documents. You will draft correspondence and legal documents under the supervision of an attorney, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and compliant with legal standards. Additionally, you will manage and organize case files and documentation, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of our legal processes. You will also assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings, coordinating communication between attorneys, clients, and court personnel to ensure that all parties are informed and prepared. Clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and scheduling appointments will also be part of your responsibilities. You will prepare monthly billing statements using Quickbooks, which requires attention to detail and accuracy. This position is part-time, with expected hours ranging from 16 to 20 per week, and offers a flexible schedule to accommodate your needs. Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing
  • Familiarity with Probate Law, Wills & Trusts and Real Estate is a plus
  • Have notary stamp or be able to get one
  • Experience in interviewing clients and witnesses
  • Proficient in using document management systems
  • Previous experience in administrative roles is preferred
