About the position

Saalfeld Griggs is seeking a dedicated and organized full-time legal assistant to join our Real Estate & Land Use group. This team is responsible for a variety of tasks including drafting and negotiating commercial and real estate transactional documents, resolving disputes related to real estate, obtaining land use entitlements, and managing appeals before local and state administrative bodies. The ideal candidate will be motivated, possess strong communication skills, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively with team members. The starting hourly wage is competitive and commensurate with experience. In this role, you will be tasked with drafting essential transactional documents such as purchase and sale agreements, easements, and leases. You will also be responsible for filing pleadings with Oregon appellate courts and local governments, ensuring that all cases are organized, and monitoring calendars and deadlines. Gathering and reviewing information from clients, assisting with the editing of legal documents, and inputting information into our document management databases will also be part of your responsibilities. You will maintain contact with clients and other parties involved in the matters, track case statuses, and generate necessary reports. Effective and professional communication with coworkers and clients is crucial, as is the ability to maintain reliable attendance and performance in fulfilling essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Draft transactional documents such as purchase and sale agreements, easements, and leases.
  • File pleadings with Oregon appellate courts and local governments.
  • Keep cases organized and monitor calendars and deadlines.
  • Gather and review information from clients.
  • Assist with editing legal documents.
  • Input information in our document management databases.
  • Review and confirm case status with your attorney.

Requirements

  • No prior legal experience necessary.
  • At least 3 years of office experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Knowledge of document management and timekeeping programs preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance and performance of the essential job functions.
