About the position

The law firm of Kemppel, Huffman & Ellis is looking for a skilled Legal Assistant. This position is responsible for supporting the delivery of quality legal services. Our firm primarily represents Alaska public utilities providing electric, telecom, natural gas, water/sewer, and pipeline service. The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring that the firm operates efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of our legal team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong communication skills, as they will be interacting with both clients and attorneys regularly. The responsibilities of the Legal Assistant include organizing and maintaining both electronic and physical files, reviewing documents for completeness, accuracy, and formatting before finalizing, and helping to maintain attorney and firm calendars. The candidate must have the ability to problem-solve and find solutions to complex problems, file court documents, perform data entry, and handle general office duties. Maintaining client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential is paramount. Additionally, the Legal Assistant will assist and support lawyers with their work as needed, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely manner. As a law firm, our clients expect our employees to have a professional attitude and appearance. Punctuality and responsibility are critical, and a reliable car with proof of insurance is required. This is a full-time position, with office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It would be very unusual for the Legal Assistant to be asked to work outside of regular business hours.
