About the position

This position involves providing comprehensive administrative support to the County Attorney's department, focusing on the preparation and management of legal documents and communications. The role requires effective organization, attention to detail, and the ability to interact with various stakeholders, including attorneys, clients, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, composes, prepares, types, and processes a variety of legal documents and communications for the County Attorney's department.
  • Maintains attorney calendars by scheduling court appearances, appointments, and meetings.
  • Manages files by opening files, preparing discovery, and sending out notices to defense attorneys or defendants.
  • Uses the Court's eFiling system to electronically file documents and serve discovery on defense attorneys.
  • Acts as receptionist for the County Attorney, greeting the public and answering phones.
  • Prepares files for hearings and trials, including notifications of officers and witnesses.
  • Compiles, prepares, and distributes claim forms and billing documents.
  • Sets up and maintains office records and filing systems for the County Attorney's Office.
  • Compiles and calculates billing figures.
  • Proofreads materials, reports, and correspondence for grammatical accuracy.
  • Prepares subpoenas, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents as instructed.
  • Follows county policies and procedures and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers and the public.
  • Attends training as needed and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and communications.
  • Experience with electronic filing systems and case management software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
