About the position

KNM is a national litigation firm with a focus on insurance defense and transportation defense litigation. Knight Nicastro MacKay is a formidable force in legal advocacy, with a dynamic team of 30+ attorneys specializing in 25+ areas of law. Operating from eight strategic offices nationwide, we tackle the toughest cases and are prepared to go to trial to win for our clients. The firm is currently seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant who is looking for a new opportunity. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy organizing, prioritizing, and assisting in the legal process. Legal Assistants at KNM are integral members of the trial team, managing and completing the non-billable tasks necessary to advance cases. In addition to case management, LAAs will handle various administrative tasks such as tracking Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits, processing expenses, and managing calendars. This position is crucial to the overall success of the firm, and the selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all necessary tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing correspondence and pleadings
  • Calendaring
  • E-Filing in state and federal courts
  • Preparing trial documents
  • Scanning and copying
  • Scheduling meetings, depositions, and making travel arrangements
  • Assisting KNM's paralegals with follow-up calls and medical requests

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a legal secretary, preferably in a defense litigation firm
  • Prior experience with litigation processes
  • Exceptional organization skills, including time management, attention to detail, and multi-tasking
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet internal and external deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to perform additional tasks as required
  • Ability to anticipate needs and manage changing priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Mastery of proofreading and editing skills
