We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to support our attorneys by performing essential legal work that requires a foundational understanding of legal procedures, methods, and terminology. The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in managing routine case files, preparing legal documents, and conducting basic research. This position is vital for ensuring that our legal processes run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our legal team. In this role, the Legal Assistant will assist attorneys with various tasks, including the preparation of non-complex pleadings, documents, correspondence, and affidavits. The successful candidate will conduct basic research such as title searches, estate checks, asset location, and skip tracing. Additionally, the Legal Assistant will review files, mail, and standard legal documents to gather necessary information and locate any missing or incomplete records. Communication with clients, debtors, attorneys, and courts will be essential for obtaining further instructions, status updates, and additional documentation. The Legal Assistant will also negotiate payment arrangements and manage the sale or return of assets/collateral, ensuring attorney/client approval. Responsibilities include processing and following up on post-judgment executions, confirming the service of subpoenas, and filing pleadings and documents with the court clerk as directed. The role requires monitoring the hearing docket and scheduling attorney coverage as needed, as well as serving as a liaison between clients and attorneys. The ideal candidate will maintain current knowledge of general legal procedures, deadlines, and the appropriate documents required for various legal processes. This position offers a structured work schedule from Monday to Friday, with training hours from 8 AM to 4:45 PM, transitioning to 8 AM to 5 PM after training. The Legal Assistant will also be expected to complete all required training applicable to the assigned position and perform additional duties as requested or required.
