About the position

The corporate Legal Assistant will provide essential support to legal counsel, playing a crucial role in managing various legal transactions and ensuring the smooth operation of legal affairs within the organization. This position requires a proactive and organized individual who can handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of professionalism. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing legal documents, corresponding with counsel, corporate personnel, and third parties, and organizing legal documents and affairs. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and will be able to work independently while also facilitating inter-departmental communication. In this role, the Legal Assistant will recognize the potential implications of decisions and actions, ensuring that all legal documents and correspondence are prepared accurately and in a timely manner. The position involves maintaining legal documents in an organized manner, tracking open matters, and pursuing their expeditious closure. The Legal Assistant will also work closely with independent distributors regarding the purchase and sale of distribution rights, monitor compliance with contractual and legal obligations, and provide honest and ethical guidance to the team. Additionally, the candidate will assist legal counsel in reviewing and analyzing applicable laws and legal developments, while also anticipating the needs of the department and willingly accepting new responsibilities to add value to the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist legal counsel in managing transactions and preparing legal documents.
  • Correspond orally and in writing with counsel and corporate and third-party personnel.
  • Prepare legal documents and correspondence accurately and timely.
  • Maintain legal documents in an organized and orderly manner.
  • Track open matters and pursue their expeditious closure.
  • Work with independent distributors regarding the purchase and sale of distribution rights.
  • Monitor corporate and third-party compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
  • Provide honest and ethical guidance to the team.
  • Facilitate inter-departmental communication and coordination of efforts.
  • Assist legal counsel in the review and analysis of applicable law and legal developments.
  • Understand and anticipate department needs.
  • Willingly accept responsibility for new tasks and pursue opportunities to add value.
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 1 year of experience in a legal assistant role or similar position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in Outlook.
