About the position

A law firm located in downtown Greenville, SC is seeking an insurance legal assistant for a hybrid position. This role is designed for individuals with a minimum of two years of legal experience, preferably in the insurance sector or a similar practice area. The firm is utilizing FGP to initially hire the candidate on a temp-to-hire basis, which means that while the position is not temporary, the candidate will start as a contractor before being converted to a permanent role. During the contract period, FGP will provide holiday pay and additional benefits, including paid time off (PTO) once the candidate is converted to a permanent employee. In this position, the legal assistant will be responsible for coordinating various office activities for attorneys, which includes performing a wide range of legal assistant duties. Key responsibilities will involve scheduling hearings and managing calendars on behalf of the attorney, preparing legal documents, correspondence, reports, and meeting minutes. The legal assistant will also be tasked with docketing cases, maintaining court dockets and diaries, filing, organizing information and case files, and indexing and maintaining charts. Interaction with clients and opposing counsel will also be a necessary part of the role, requiring strong communication skills and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate office activities for Attorneys, performing a variety of legal assistant duties
  • Schedule hearings and manage calendars on behalf of the attorney
  • Prepare legal documents, correspondence, reports, and meeting minutes
  • Docket cases and maintain court dockets and diaries
  • File, organize information and case files, index, and maintain charts
  • Interact with clients and opposing counsel as necessary

Requirements

  • 2 years of legal assisting experience, ideally in an insurance-related practice area
  • Strong computer skills and experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage calendars
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
