About the position

As a member of the Legal Team at CDK Global, the Legal Assistant will primarily provide essential support for the attorneys, focusing on litigation. This role involves assisting with day-to-day department needs and liaising regularly with cross-department partners to ensure smooth operations within the legal framework of the organization. The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in various legal functions, including risk management, contract enforcement, ethics, and bankruptcy, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the legal department. The position entails a variety of responsibilities, including assisting attorneys with discovery processes, document preservation, and responding to subpoenas. The Legal Assistant will draft routine correspondence and serve as a liaison to support litigation and other legal functions. Additionally, the role requires preparing legal reports, developing and streamlining internal administrative processes, and managing document and file management tasks. The Legal Assistant will also review, process, and maintain customer and vendor agreements, which are vital for supporting dispute resolution and enhancing customer delivery. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Legal Assistant will work directly with cross-functional teams to intake and help resolve contractual issues. They will facilitate cross-functional decision-making and act as a trusted advisor with a collaborative team approach among internal and external business partners. Administrative duties will also be part of the role, advocating for the legal team and serving as the single point of contact for internal approvals. The Legal Assistant will liaise with outside counsel, internal departments, and vendors regarding the payment of invoices and assist in analyzing the Legal Department's expenditures, maintaining a litigation budget that includes tracking expenses and processing all invoices, orders, agreements, and other obligations for payment. General administrative support and other related duties will be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with discovery, document preservation, and subpoena responses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or 2-3+ years law firm and/or in-house legal team experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented personality.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate internally and with prospective clients.
  • Independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks or workload deadlines.
  • Strong desire and ability to learn.
  • Project or program management and process improvement experience highly valued.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, especially in cross-functional situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office technology (e.g., SharePoint).
