About the position

Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A, an AV-rated firm and Florida's largest litigation firm, is seeking a full-time, experienced Legal Assistant for its Pensacola office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of recent civil litigation experience, with a preference for those who have experience in insurance defense. A solid understanding of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure is essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are crucial to the smooth operation of the legal team. These tasks include managing case files, preparing correspondence, pleadings, and discovery documents, as well as the service and e-filing of these documents. The role also involves scheduling depositions, mediations, and hearings, and assisting attorneys in their preparation for these events, including trials and conferences. Additionally, the Legal Assistant will manage the attorney's calendar and perform other duties as required by the Managing Attorney or Office Manager. This position demands excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational abilities, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and the capacity to remain calm under the pressure of multiple deadlines. Responsibilities

  • Managing case files
  • Preparing correspondence, pleadings, and discovery documents
  • Service and e-filing of pleadings and discovery
  • Scheduling depositions, mediations, and hearings
  • Assisting attorneys in preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings, trials, and conferences
  • Managing attorney calendar
  • Performing additional duties as required by Managing Attorney/Office Manager

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of recent civil litigation experience
  • Preferred experience in insurance defense
  • Working knowledge of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure of multiple deadlines
