Cabanas Law Firm is seeking a full-time bilingual Legal Assistant to join our expanding team in Pembroke Pines. As a Legal Assistant, you will serve as a compassionate voice for our clients, handling inbound calls from prospective and existing clients, as well as attorneys. Your role will involve scheduling meetings for our attorneys with clients, ensuring that all interactions are handled with care and professionalism. In addition to client interaction, you will collaborate closely with our legal team to prepare necessary documentation and solutions for clients facing challenging family situations. This role is not just about administrative tasks; it is about making a positive impact on the lives of our clients. Additional administrative duties may be assigned to ensure the firm operates efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, documenting client discussions, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines
  • Conduct legal research, when necessary, with guidance from attorneys and paralegals
  • Greet clients warmly and escort them personally to their meeting location, ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable
  • Undertake other administrative duties as needed to ensure the firm operates efficiently

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's degree is a plus
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or office environment as an administrative assistant or secretary
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must be able to type at least 50 WPM
  • Comfortable working with all Microsoft Office products
  • Experience working in a customer service computer system
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Organizational skills and effective communication skills are necessary for this position
  • Willing to learn new skills to assist with special projects
