About the position

Ghitterman, Ghitterman & Feld is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our practice, which focuses on Workers' Compensation, Social Security Disability, and Disability Retirement Law. This role is crucial as it serves as a liaison between the handling attorney or hearing representative and the various parties involved in each case, with a primary emphasis on client interaction. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for managing clients' cases, ensuring they are prepared for attorneys to bring to resolution. This includes processing tasks, filing legal paperwork, and providing exceptional client service. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and have a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Word, as well as experience with PDFs. The candidate should demonstrate initiative, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to problem-solve. The ability to switch tasks and maintain focus in a dynamic environment is essential. Candidates must be comfortable working directly with clients and colleagues, whether in person, over the phone, or virtually. Experience with databases or client/case management software is recommended, and customer service experience is a plus. A collaborative spirit and a desire to work as part of a team are essential attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the handling attorney or hearing representative and clients, adjusters, medical professionals, or defense attorneys.
  • Manage clients' cases and prepare them for resolution by attorneys.
  • Process tasks and file legal paperwork efficiently.
  • Provide exceptional client service and support throughout the case management process.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in person, over the phone, and virtually.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
