About the position

Our client has a unique opening for an accomplished Legal Assistant to join their close-knit, family-oriented team of legal, title, and escrow professionals. The Legal Assistant has the opportunity to do work that has a positive impact on individuals, families, and communities. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting lawyers and law and title associates in accurately preparing, organizing, and filing various legal and title documents. You will meet with attorneys, co-workers, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned projects and provide administrative, documentary, and ongoing research support to attorneys. Your duties will include researching legal and title issues and supporting law by using online and offline resources. You will prepare and file documents with courts, counties, and other governmental offices, as well as organize and archive documents related to completed and ongoing projects according to established standards. Additionally, you will research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal and title articles, judicial and title decisions, and underwriting, providing written analysis to attorneys and co-workers. As a communication liaison between the firm's attorneys, title officers, counterparties, and clients, you will draft documents and send them to attorneys and title officers for final review. You will also review documents to ensure factual elements are current and correct, proof for typographical errors, and assemble clients' diligence submission packages for investors, lenders, and state agencies. Furthermore, you will perform escrow, title, and survey processing, complete checklists, and prepare documents for Residential and Commercial closings, and assist attorneys in handling USDA, Rural Development transactions by completing USDA forms.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as paralegal studies, legal studies, or business law.
  • Paralegal certification is a plus and title experience is a plus.
  • Minimum two years' experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or title assistant.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with legal and title and survey research and processing software such as LexisNexis, RamQuest, and other software.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient with RamQuest Complete Closing Enterprise.
  • Proficient with using online due diligence file sharing websites (Sharefile, Box, Dropbox, Procurem, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office for 3 years (Preferred).
  • Experience as a paralegal for 4 years (Preferred).
