About the position

Matt Dion & Associates LLC, a boutique plaintiff's personal injury law firm located in Reno, NV, is seeking a reliable and proactive Legal Assistant to join our team. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $25 to $35, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will work directly with the managing attorney and a paralegal, playing a crucial role in the management of personal injury claims. We are looking for someone who is organized, professional, responsible, self-motivated, and has a strong understanding of personal injury law. The candidate will be responsible for various tasks that are essential to the smooth operation of the firm, including managing the attorney's calendar, gathering initial client intake information, confirming medical bill balances, and requesting medical records and bills. Additionally, the Legal Assistant will draft pre-litigation letters and demands, meet with clients, and assist the attorney in various capacities. While Spanish-speaking skills are a benefit, they are not a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the attorney's calendar and schedule appointments.
  • Gather initial client intake information.
  • Confirm medical bill balances and request medical records and bills.
  • Draft pre-litigation letters and demands.
  • Meet with clients to discuss their cases and provide assistance to the attorney.
  • Assist the attorney with various tasks related to personal injury claims.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in a law office (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience in personal injury law.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Spanish speaking skills (beneficial but not required).
