The Woodbury, Long Island office of Kaufman Dolowich, an AV-rated® firm recognized as one of the “Best Companies to Work For,” is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers an annual salary ranging from $50,000 to $60,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a legal administrative role and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the firm’s operations and attorneys. As a Legal Assistant, you will prepare, edit, and proofread a wide range of legal documents, including correspondence, agreements, and pleadings. You will manage complex document production processes, including Bates Stamping, and draft simple pleadings and correspondence. Your role will also involve preparing court filings, making copies for filing, and ensuring that service copies are accurately prepared and filed with various courts, both traditionally and electronically. In addition to document preparation, you will create Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities using Microsoft Word, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. You will maintain calendars, coordinating and scheduling meetings, depositions, and conference calls, while also tracking deadlines and updating attorneys on the status of cases. Your responsibilities will extend to preparing Trial Memoranda, scheduling depositions, coordinating mediation dates, and assisting with trial preparation by creating trial notebooks and managing logistics with copy services. The position requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as you will interact with clients, outside counsel, and court staff. You will also be responsible for answering telephones and taking detailed messages. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and a positive attitude while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
