About the position

The Legal Counsel - Litigation position at Apache Corporation is a key role within the legal team, based in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will serve as lead counsel in commercial litigation, managing all phases of litigation across various jurisdictions. This role involves providing legal advice to business units, leading internal investigations, and supporting special projects, while also assisting with operational legal matters as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead counsel in assigned commercial litigation.
• Handle all phases of assigned litigation across multiple jurisdictions domestically and internationally.
• Provide legal advice to business units on a wide variety of topics.
• Lead or assist in internal investigations.
• Provide legal support with respect to special projects.
• Assist in operational legal matters as required.

Requirements

• Juris doctor degree from a top law school.
• At least five years of litigation experience as an in-house attorney with an oil and gas company or with a nationally recognized law firm.
• Member in good standing of the Texas State Bar (or a jurisdiction with reciprocity for admission in Texas).
• Capable of handling a large docket across multiple jurisdictions as lead counsel.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
