About the position

GeoComply is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its dynamic Legal team, focusing on commercial contracting, product counseling, privacy, and intellectual property matters. The role involves providing legal guidance to support strategic initiatives and ensure compliance in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business objectives while mitigating legal risks.

Responsibilities

  • Support commercial contracting processes by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of agreements, including SaaS and licensing contracts.
  • Provide legal guidance on product development, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including privacy and data protection standards.
  • Assist in managing IP assets, including drafting and reviewing licensing agreements and supporting patent initiatives.
  • Ensure products and services comply with global privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA, working closely with privacy and compliance teams.
  • Identify and address potential legal risks in commercial transactions and product development, proposing practical solutions to mitigate exposure.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes by implementing best practices and exploring innovative legal technologies.

Requirements

  • Law degree (LLB, LLM, JD) and Bar membership in a relevant US state and/or Canadian province.
  • Proven track record of legal experience in commercial contracting, technology transactions, privacy, and IP matters within a law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably in the tech industry.
  • Ability to draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of complex commercial and technology licensing contracts.
  • Solid understanding of existing and emerging privacy, data protection, and intellectual property laws.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal issues into actionable advice for business stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, responsive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience in regulated industries, especially gaming or financial services.
