About the position

Fisher Investments is an established international asset management firm seeking to hire a commercially oriented attorney who will play a key role in the firm's growth. This position will provide legal support across multiple functions within the firm, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on the firm's ongoing development. As part of the in-house legal team, you will be involved in various legal areas and projects, gaining exposure to different departments within Fisher Investments. In this role, you will report to Fisher's Legal & Compliance group and will be responsible for supporting the firm's institutional business, global ESG program, and outsourcing initiatives, as well as assisting with the firm's expansion into new jurisdictions and services. Your responsibilities will include negotiating contracts with major clients and service providers, advising management on policy adjustments in response to new regulations, and driving results in critical areas of the firm. The day-to-day responsibilities of this position involve senior-level professional work where you will develop your role, enhance your skills, and take on increased responsibilities under general guidance. You will support the institutional business by negotiating investment management agreements, providing legal advice to the institutional funds team, reviewing requests for proposal submissions, and helping navigate new regulations across multiple jurisdictions. Additionally, you will lead legal support for the global ESG program, oversee the review and negotiation of service provider agreements, and assist with the firm's expansion efforts by creating new subsidiaries and obtaining necessary licenses. Training paralegals and fellow attorneys on new regulations will also be part of your duties.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate investment management agreements for the firm's institutional business.
  • Provide legal advice to the firm's institutional funds team.
  • Advise management in the institutional business on regulatory matters.
  • Review requests for proposal submissions and responses to due diligence requests.
  • Help the institutional business navigate new and/or changing regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Lead legal support for the firm's global ESG program, advising on new/changing ESG regulations.
  • Provide legal support services to the firm's outsourcing program, including reviewing and negotiating service provider agreements.
  • Assist with the firm's expansion efforts by creating new subsidiaries and obtaining licenses for expanded services.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
  • Train paralegals, fellow attorneys, and business colleagues on new and/or changing regulations.

Requirements

  • Law degree from an accredited law school with admission to a bar.
  • 4+ years of experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm, or at least 3 years of experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm coupled with 2+ years of in-house corporate experience.
  • Experience negotiating contracts.
  • Experience providing legal advice on new and/or changing regulations to large corporate organizations.
