About the position

Verisk Analytics is seeking a Legal Operations Associate to join our corporate Law Department at our global headquarters in Jersey City, NJ. This position operates within a flexible hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work. The primary focus of this role is to implement and support processes and solutions that enhance the efficiency of the Legal, Compliance, and Audit (LC&A) team. By streamlining day-to-day operations, the Legal Operations Associate will enable team members to concentrate on their core responsibilities and serve customers more effectively. A key responsibility of this role is to simplify and streamline legal contracting processes. This includes the organization and management of the administration, processing, storage, and reporting associated with all corporate sell-side agreements. The Legal Operations Associate will facilitate operational efficiencies in Verisk's contracting environment by leveraging appropriate tools, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems, while also revisiting existing processes to align with business needs. The role requires assessing and identifying opportunities for improvement in contracting practices, staying informed about emerging technologies, and incorporating them into an actionable roadmap. The Legal Operations Associate will redesign complex workflows and develop simplified solutions that prioritize ease of use and user experience. Additionally, the associate will serve as the business contact and departmental representative for the CLM system, contributing to the establishment of a contract administration "Center of Excellence" and generating reports and dashboards on contract activity. Collaboration is essential in this role, as the Legal Operations Associate will participate in requirements gathering and problem-solving with internal stakeholders to develop solutions that meet departmental and organizational objectives. The associate will also assist in evaluating technologies and process requirements to assess future needs, driving the use of technology and automation systems to improve department operations. Furthermore, the role includes supporting LC&A learning and development initiatives, managing recurring issues, and coordinating training for team members on relevant topics and systems. The Legal Operations Associate will also participate in legal spend management initiatives, budgeting, and reforecasting, while establishing and utilizing metrics, KPIs, OKRs, and success criteria across various operations and projects. Knowledge management will be enhanced through maintaining resources on the intranet, SharePoint, and Teams, and the associate will contribute to various special LC&A projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and support processes and solutions for Legal, Compliance, and Audit (LC&A) operations.
  • Simplify and streamline legal contracting processes.
  • Organize and manage administration, processing, storage, and reporting of corporate sell-side agreements.
  • Facilitate operational efficiencies in Verisk's contracting environment using CRM and CLM tools.
  • Align with stakeholders to develop an actionable roadmap for contracting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in business operations for a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Knowledge of contracting and best practices in contract administration.
  • Strong project management and/or lean six sigma background preferred.
  • Demonstrates superior initiative and ensures strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proven track record of managing to project plans and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
