About the position

The Legal Operations Coordinator at Tempus plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of the legal department by managing workflows and supporting in-house attorneys. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about precision medicine and the healthcare industry, particularly in leveraging technology to improve legal operations. The coordinator will work closely with the Legal Operations Manager to administer various legal department workflows, ensuring seamless communication between legal teams and business counterparts across the organization. In this role, the coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the contract management system and workflow automation tools. This includes collaborating with internal IT support and external vendors to optimize these systems. The coordinator will also work with various internal departments to enhance legal interactions and processes, ensuring that all legal documentation is organized and maintained in electronic filing systems. Additionally, the Legal Operations Coordinator will perform regular reporting on department metrics, which includes monthly, quarterly, and annual assessments. They will handle the initial intake of various transactional agreements, such as NDAs and commercial contracts, and will be tasked with reviewing and evaluating potential software tools that can improve efficiency and enhance the delivery of legal services. This position requires a proactive individual who is not only detail-oriented but also capable of managing large workloads and meeting deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Legal Operations Manager with administration of legal department workflows, including interfacing with in-house attorneys and business counterparts across Tempus
  • Day-to-day administration of contract management system and workflow automation tools, including interaction with internal IT support and external-facing vendors
  • Work in collaboration with internal departments to improve legal interactions and processes
  • Manage, organize, and maintain documents and records in electronic filing systems
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual department metric reporting
  • Initial intake of a variety of transactional agreements - NDA, buy-side agreements, commercial contracts
  • Review, evaluate, and source potential software tools to improve efficiency and enhance legal service delivery

Requirements

  • Associate degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree required
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • 2 or more years of experience assisting transactional attorneys in a high volume practice preferred
  • Relentless task-master ability to 'delegate up' so we all accomplish tasks within agreed upon goals and timelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and G-Suite applications
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
  • Experience with contract management systems and workflow automation tools
  • Team player with a positive attitude - some days we are solving big problems and some days we are copying and filing and running redlines and getting through the necessary stuff
  • Experience in healthcare, data or IP related field is a plus
