About the position

The Legal Secretary for Intellectual Property (IP) at NRI, Inc. will play a crucial role in supporting the legal team by managing various administrative tasks and ensuring the smooth operation of the department. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality. The Legal Secretary will be responsible for preparing legal documents, managing schedules, and coordinating communication between clients and attorneys. Additionally, the role involves maintaining case files, conducting legal research, and assisting with the preparation of filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of intellectual property law and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. In this position, the Legal Secretary will also be responsible for organizing and maintaining the legal library, ensuring that all legal resources are up to date and accessible. The role requires excellent organizational skills, as the Legal Secretary will need to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple deadlines. Strong communication skills are essential, as the Legal Secretary will interact with clients, attorneys, and other stakeholders regularly. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file legal documents related to intellectual property cases.
  • Manage attorney schedules and coordinate meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain and organize case files and legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research as needed to support ongoing cases.
  • Assist in the preparation of filings with the USPTO.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and attorneys regarding case updates and requirements.
  • Organize and maintain the legal library and ensure resources are current.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the legal department and suggest solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of intellectual property law and legal terminology.
  • Proven experience as a legal secretary or in a similar administrative role.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
