About the position

West Knoxville defense firm is seeking a full-time legal secretary/legal assistant with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a law office. The ideal candidate will have experience in defense litigation, although this is not a strict requirement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook for calendaring, as well as strong typing and transcription skills, are essential. Exceptional proofreading skills are necessary to ensure accuracy in all documentation. The candidate must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, monitor progress, follow up, and complete assignments in a timely manner with minimal supervision. Familiarity with Aderant Total Office (formerly Client Profiles) software is considered a plus. The office operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and the position does not require working nights or weekends. The firm offers a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to salary, the firm provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, and disability insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan with firm contributions upon qualification. Employees are entitled to three weeks of paid leave annually and paid holidays. Annual reviews are conducted, and there is potential for annual bonuses based on performance. Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff.
  • Prepare and proofread legal documents and correspondence.
  • Manage and organize case files and documentation.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain calendars for attorneys.
  • Assist in the preparation for trials and hearings.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal matters.
  • Conduct legal research as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant in a law office.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook.
  • Strong typing and transcription skills.
  • Exceptional proofreading skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in defense litigation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Aderant Total Office (formerly Client Profiles) software.
