About the position

The Alioto Law Firm, a plaintiff's antitrust litigation firm, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal / Legal Secretary to join our team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $62,500 to $92,500 per year, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of litigation support experience in both Federal and State Courts, demonstrating a strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects effectively. The role involves working closely with the lead attorney, who operates from a home office near Danville, CA, and includes some flexibility for remote work. However, the upkeep of paper case files and working papers at the home office is essential, along with maintaining digital files in Dropbox that are accessible to multiple attorneys. As a Paralegal / Legal Secretary, you will be responsible for drafting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents, managing and organizing documents in both paper and electronic filing systems, and filing documents with various courts using Pacer and ECF e-filing platforms. You will also be tasked with calendaring filing deadlines, scheduling conference calls, and monitoring email accounts for the lead attorney, summarizing daily activities, and communicating important deadlines to the attorney and associates. The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Word and a solid understanding of Federal and State filing procedures, as well as the ability to take typing dictation for correspondence and pleadings. The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong proofreading capabilities, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. A thorough knowledge of court rules and procedures, particularly in appellate court filings, is highly desirable. Responsibilities

  • Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents.
  • Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper and/or electronic filing systems (DropBox and paper versions for lead attorney home office).
  • Format and create legal documents and pleadings using Microsoft Word.
  • File documents with various courts (Pacer and ECF e-filing platforms).
  • Calendar filing deadlines, appointments, and set up conference calls.
  • Schedule conference calls and maintain regular communication with the lead attorney regarding the daily schedule.
  • Monitor email accounts for the lead attorney, summarize activity in a daily activity log, and communicate activity and deadlines to the lead attorney and associates.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of paralegal experience required.
  • Experience with litigation support in both Federal and State Courts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage workloads independently and effectively.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Court rules and procedures.
  • Strong proofreading capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in DropBox and Docketbird file maintenance and sharing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Appeal Court procedures is desirable but not required.
