The Legal Secretary position at Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR) is a vital role within the Legal Affairs Department, aimed at providing comprehensive support to the department's attorneys. The Legal Secretary will be responsible for managing various administrative tasks, including document preparation, maintaining contract and policy databases, and ensuring that all legal documents are accurately filed and easily accessible. As a full-time employee, the Legal Secretary will work 40 hours per week, primarily during the day shift from Monday to Friday. However, the role may require occasional weekend on-call duties on a rotational basis and at least one major holiday per year. While this is primarily a telework position, the Legal Secretary must be prepared for occasional onsite workdays based on departmental needs, including attendance at meetings, training sessions, and other authorized activities. SWHR is a clinically integrated network that combines the strengths of Texas Health Resources and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, providing a wide range of healthcare services to over 790,000 patients across North Texas. The Legal Secretary will play a crucial role in supporting the legal team in navigating the complexities of healthcare law and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Legal Affairs Department attorneys.
  • Manage and maintain contract and policy databases.
  • Prepare and edit legal documents and correspondence.
  • Ensure accurate filing and organization of legal documents.
  • Assist in scheduling meetings and coordinating department activities.
  • Participate in department meetings and training sessions as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working as a secretary or paralegal, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • 1 year of experience managing contract or policy databases preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word Processing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
