About the position

Thompson Hine LLP, an Am Law 200 firm recognized for its commitment to Innovation and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, is seeking a full-time Legal Secretary in our Cleveland, Ohio office. This position involves providing comprehensive administrative and legal support to a transactional practice Partner, along with other assignments that may be determined later. The role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the legal practice, requiring a proactive approach to managing various tasks and responsibilities. The Legal Secretary will be responsible for busy calendar and logistics management, which includes scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and ensuring that all necessary materials are prepared in advance. Additionally, the role involves drafting and editing correspondence, memoranda, and legal documents, which requires exceptional writing and proofreading skills. The Legal Secretary will also handle travel planning and expense reimbursements, maintain organized client files, and assist with time entry using Aderant. Furthermore, the position includes supporting the client billing process and collaborating closely with other staff and departments as necessary. To be successful in this role, candidates must possess at least ten years of legal secretary experience, demonstrating outstanding software skills, including advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF (Kofax), and Outlook. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, dependable, and exhibit sound judgment. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are critical, as is the capacity to adapt to changing priorities. Overtime and schedule adjustments may be required occasionally to accommodate workflow, and the position allows for a hybrid remote/in-office schedule after a successful 90-day training period.
