About the position

The Senior Paralegal position at Rose International in Orlando, FL, is a temporary role focused on providing comprehensive legal support within the Client Trial Division's Florida Offices. This position is specifically tailored for candidates with a strong background in insurance defense, particularly in areas such as auto, uninsured/underinsured motorist, commercial auto, commercial premises liability, or construction defect cases. The role requires an onsite presence, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and direct interaction with the legal team and clients. As a Senior Paralegal, you will be responsible for managing a variety of legal tasks with minimal supervision. This includes opening and closing files, processing mail, scheduling hearings, depositions, and mediations, as well as retaining experts and preparing expert packages. You will also draft pleadings, discovery documents, and responses, prepare medical chronologies, and summarize discovery materials. The position demands proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and case management software, as well as the ability to work effectively in a paperless environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent research and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks according to established standards. You will be expected to conduct legal research, analyze data from various sources, and prepare summaries and recommendations regarding legal questions. Additionally, drafting contracts, patent applications, and other legal documents for attorney review will be a key part of your responsibilities. This role is crucial in supporting attorneys and counsel in their legal endeavors, ensuring that all documentation and processes are handled efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Provides broad based legal support services to attorneys and counsel in the form of legal research, drafting of legal and business communications, and internal systems support and maintenance
  • Conducts legal research, analyzes and compiles data from multiple sources such as on-line references, digests, practice manuals or other sources
  • Prepares summaries of digests and recommendation resolution to legal questions
  • Prepares internal memos to team members and internal clients
  • Drafts contracts, patent applications, resolutions and other legal documents for attorney review
  • Drafts moderately complex depositions outlines/questions, motions, pleadings, subpoenas, orders and briefs for attorney review
  • Analyzes and evaluates records and data for discovery
  • Drafts recommendations and correspondence to clients, claims attorneys, and customers regarding discovery and legal matters
  • Develops and maintains internal information databases
  • Conducts and evaluates open and closed paralegal file audits and informs attorneys and management of the audit results; makes appropriate recommendations for improvement
  • Maintains currency in both business unit and legal professional competencies
  • May support litigation via the collection of information for interrogatories and response to requests for documentation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Five or more years' experience as a paralegal with proven performance
  • In depth knowledge of paralegal concepts, procedures and practices
  • Proven knowledge in operations, practices and procedures of general counsel or civil litigation
  • Proven knowledge of filing requirements of relevant courts and administrative agencies
  • Demonstrated knowledge in legal research and complex deposition motion practices as well as appellate procedures
  • Strong analytical, research and organizational skills
  • Ability to set work priorities that conform with established standards
  • Capacity to administer projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to give presentations in both formal and informal settings
  • Ability to design and maintain filing systems
  • Strong verbal and written skills for contact with associates, attorneys, clients and customers
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related legal and business software and databases
