About the position

The Legal Specialist plays a crucial role in managing legal case files and facilitating court activities related to child support enforcement and establishment. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with federal and state legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare case files for court hearings.
  • Enter court depositions and complete order entries.
  • Complete actions on referrals from Staff Attorneys for court follow-up actions.
  • Interface with various legal and enforcement personnel to facilitate court activity.
  • Generate all legal pleadings required for cases.
  • Assist attorneys with case management to ensure timely progression of cases.
  • Ensure all necessary federal and state elements are included in legal filings.
  • Schedule hearings for attorneys and assist them in court as needed.
  • Provide customer service to child support staff and the community.
  • Perform data entry in the state system as needed.
  • Handle miscellaneous duties related to general case handling in the legal system.
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or a Paralegal Certificate is required.
  • One-year experience with the judicial process involved in the enforcement and establishment of child support orders preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of federal and state child support policies and procedures.
