About the position

The Legal Staff Assistant position is a full-time role based in the San Diego office, offering a salary range of $42,000 to $44,000 per year. This position is ideal for individuals with at least one year of experience in a legal office environment. The role requires a high level of motivation and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. The successful candidate will be expected to manage multiple tasks effectively, prioritize daily demands, and take direction from attorneys and support staff. The work environment is fast-paced, necessitating adaptability to changing priorities and a strong attention to detail. Candidates should possess practical oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with databases and data entry is considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support as directed.
  • Open new matters/files.
  • Assist with submitting client invoices.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required.
  • Assist with the submission of vendor bills and check requests.
  • Handle a high volume of bills per month.
  • Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
  • Manage and update data using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of legal office experience.
  • High level of motivation with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask and successfully manage various demands daily.
  • Ability to take direction from support staff and attorneys.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and able to prioritize a heavy workload.
  • Practical oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with databases and data entry is a plus.
