About the position

DLA Piper is seeking a highly talented Legal Support Assistant to join our team in Austin, TX. This position is integral to our Legal Support Services team, where collaboration and dynamic engagement are key. The role requires a minimum of three days a week in the office, with additional onsite days as business needs arise. As a Legal Support Assistant, you will be responsible for receiving assignments from lawyers and legal executive assistants within our Investment Funds Group, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of various tasks. Your day will involve preparing, editing, and proofreading a wide range of documents, including correspondence, agreements, pleadings, spreadsheets, client manuals, and presentations. You will utilize transcription and dictation equipment as necessary. In addition to document preparation, you will manage administrative tasks such as processing expense reports, check requests, time entry, prebilling tasks, conflicts checks, and opening new client matters. Calendar management, scheduling, travel arrangements, and document organization will also be part of your responsibilities. Special projects will include monitoring and tracking Investment Funds deals and entering deal details into the firm's Experience Hub. You will be expected to file documents using our electronic system and assist with research for various projects, pulling documents, and other related tasks. The ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments effectively in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Responsibilities

  • Receive assignments from lawyers and legal executive assistants within the Investment Funds Group.
  • Prepare, edit, and proofread a variety of documents including correspondence, agreements, pleadings, and presentations.
  • Monitor, accept, and complete work assignments through the firm's software delegation tool and via email.
  • Process expense reports, check requests, time entry, and prebilling tasks.
  • Conduct conflicts checks and open new client/matter files.
  • Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and arrange travel as needed.
  • Organize documents and assist with research for projects.
  • File documents using the electronic system and assist with document searches.
  • Participate in special projects to monitor and track Investment Funds deals and enter deal details into the firm's Experience Hub.
  • Remain current in technical skills by taking offered courses and attending organized meetings and training.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience performing basic office and clerical duties in a law firm or professional service organization.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with team members, business professionals, and lawyers.
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
