About the position

The Legal Support Runner plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the law firm by handling the delivery of legal documents, filing paperwork at courts, and performing various administrative tasks. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage time effectively and work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Hand-deliver and file documents in various courts and agencies, including delivery of courtesy copies to Judges and Magistrate Judges.
  • Assist in preparing for major mailings, filings, and closings by making photocopies, scanning images, organizing materials, stuffing & labeling envelopes, and other tasks.
  • Perform deliveries and pick-ups from local clients, businesses, and law firms.
  • Ensure that all mail, document deliveries, and packages are sorted and distributed throughout the Firm.
  • Perform mail runs to pick up USPS from the post office and drop off certified mail/USPS/FedEx/UPS in the afternoon.
  • Maintain supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels and unloading, unpacking, and stocking supplies.
  • Move furniture, heavy items, client files, and other office equipment as needed.
  • Monitor food requests and pick up food orders when necessary.
  • Serve as back-up when Openers are out, making coffee and ensuring conference rooms are set up and ready for the day.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and scheduling repairs.
  • Monitor facilities requests and set up new employee workstations.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus one year of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to represent the Firm in a positive, professional manner.
  • Maintain a positive, can-do attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear and effective communication and strong people skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong diligence with great emphasis on accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to requests on time.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Office Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to lift and move furniture, boxes, and other office items.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
