About the position

The Legal Support Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and training support staff within the Civil Division of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring effective case management, and providing legal document preparation assistance under the guidance of attorneys. The position aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of legal support services provided to the county government.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train assigned support staff, typically consisting of Legal Support Specialists.
  • Monitor, direct, and delegate caseloads within the assigned area.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentoring to Civil support staff.
  • Assist with the preparation of various legal documents including complaints, answers, disclosures, and motions under the direction of staff attorneys.
  • File, train, and supervise staff in document management and electronic filing in various courts.
  • Research and prepare statistics, monthly reports, evaluations, and attorney assignments.
  • Schedule interviews and prepare evaluations for staff.
  • Prepare files for closeout and assist the Operations Manager in strategic planning for the Division.
  • Train staff in the use of ProLaw.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in a legal setting with knowledge in legal preparations or legal proceedings.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in using databases to track cases and docket court documents.
