About the position

MLG Attorneys at Law is seeking a Legal Research and Writer with over 10 years of experience in legal writing, particularly in drafting briefs. The firm specializes in vehicle defect litigation and aims to maximize recovery for clients through innovative legal strategies. The position involves extensive legal research, drafting high-quality legal briefs, and collaborating with a team to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in legal documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct extensive legal research and analysis to support brief writing.
• Draft and edit high-quality legal briefs, including appellate briefs, petitions, and other court filings.
• Ensure that all legal briefs adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other staff to ensure that legal briefs are accurate, comprehensive, and effective.
• Review and analyze legal documents and evidence and prepare written memoranda summarizing findings.
• Manage multiple projects and prioritize deadlines effectively.
• Provide guidance and training to junior team members to ensure that all legal briefs are of high quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in law or related field; JD preferred.
• California Bar (Required).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal research and writing, with a strong focus on brief writing.
• Extensive experience working at the court of appeals drafting published opinions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in legal research tools, such as LexisNexis or Westlaw.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
