About the position

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is seeking a Legislative Analyst (Operations and Policy Analyst 2) to join its External Relations Division (ERD). This full-time, permanent position is designed for individuals who are passionate about community engagement and policy analysis. The Legislative Analyst will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between internal and external partners, ensuring a two-way flow of information that fosters productive relationships. This position will also involve managing various tools to track and implement state and federal policy initiatives, making it essential for the analyst to have a strong understanding of legislative processes and community needs. As a member of the government relations team, the Legislative Analyst will lead or support a variety of community engagement and communications activities. This includes collaborating with diverse stakeholders to promote OHA's strategic goals, particularly the commitment to eliminate health inequities by 2030. The analyst will report directly to the Director of Government Relations, contributing to the development and implementation of policies that reflect the values of equity and inclusion. Responsibilities

  • Lead or support community engagement and communications activities within the government relations team.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external and internal partners, facilitating two-way information flow.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science, or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills.
  • Two years of professional-level evaluative, analytical, and planning work experience, or any combination of experience and education equivalent to five years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Spanish language fluency.
  • Familiarity with the Oregon state legislature and relevant statutes, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively handle irate and hostile members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
