Responsibilities

  • Provide legal review of proposed legislation by analyzing compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Conduct legal research of various federal laws, state laws, and other legal precedents.
  • Draft memoranda and bill draft language as requested.
  • Attend committee meetings and hearings to provide guidance on legal questions and procedural matters.
  • Review executive appointments that require Senate approval.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Licensed as an attorney in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Possess legal knowledge to identify potential issues in proposed legislation.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and analytical techniques.
  • Ability to multitask various projects and work under pressure of deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the legislative process and terminology is preferred but not required.
