About the position

The Optician at LensCrafters plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality eyewear. This position is centered around creating a welcoming environment for customers, ensuring their needs are met, and providing expert optical advice. The Optician is responsible for custom fitting glasses, managing customer interactions, and maintaining store standards, all while contributing to the overall success of the store.

Responsibilities

• Greets all customers warmly and ensures they know what to expect.
• Custom fits glasses and accurately places prescriptions in lenses.
• Acts as a leader in optical knowledge and provides support to associates.
• Takes and records measurements, adjusts eyewear, and ensures it meets standards.
• Attracts new customers and explores their needs through open-ended questions.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and follows up for clarity on customer needs.
• Assists co-workers with complex product needs and prescriptions.
• Utilizes store tools and adheres to Brand Store Commitments.
• Performs work accurately under time pressure and high customer volume.
• Demonstrates superior product knowledge and describes features and benefits of lenses and frames.
• Anticipates customer problems and strives for long-term solutions.
• Manages time effectively with competing priorities and commits to delivery dates.
• Strives to achieve exceptional results on Brand KPIs and competencies.
• Maintains store appearance and secures company assets.
• Informs management of safety opportunities and demonstrates safe work practices.
• Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to dress code.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent
• ABO Certification
• Optical dispensing experience
• Strong customer service skills including communication and listening
• Knowledge of current store merchandise
• Strong basic math skills
• Awareness of current fashion trends
• Selling skills and ability to use an iPAD/tablet
• Familiarity with POS systems, computers, and calculators
• Ability to embrace new technology and change
