About the position

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a dedicated MRI Technologist Level II to join our team in Stockton, California. In this role, you will operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. You will work under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, utilizing your independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to perform related technological functions that ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care. This position requires a commitment to efficient and safe processes while delivering high-quality imaging services. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing patient studies according to established protocols, which includes placing specified coils close to the area of interest. You will operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer, adjusting transmitters and receivers, and entering data on the camera's keyboard to photograph images. Your role will also involve interviewing patients to explain MRI procedures, addressing their concerns, and ensuring a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors. Safety is paramount in this role; you will ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols, requesting the removal of hazardous metal objects, alerting staff of potential dangers, and monitoring patients via closed-circuit TV. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to orient new hires and train MRI Technologists, students, and trainees. In the absence of the MRI Supervising Technologist, you may be required to direct, check, and train other MRI employees. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards of care and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
  • Performs patient studies according to set protocol, including placing specified coil close to the area of interest.
  • Operates imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer.
  • Interviews patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and address their concerns.
  • Ensures patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols and monitoring patients via closed-circuit TV.
  • Orients new hires and trains MRI Technologists, students, and trainees.
  • May direct, check, and train other MRI employees in the absence of the MRI Supervising Technologist.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of continuous recent experience as an MRI Technologist, fully proficient in all duties required of an MRI Technologist II.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California).
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in teaching other Technologists.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • ARRT certification preferred.
