About the position

The Level II NDT (Nondestructive Testing) Field Technician will be responsible for performing calibrations, conducting nondestructive tests, and evaluating results to determine acceptance or rejection based on established written instructions. This role requires a thorough understanding of the applicable codes, standards, and specifications relevant to the NDT methods being employed. The technician will be expected to set up and calibrate testing equipment, interpret and evaluate test results, and ensure compliance with industry standards. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Level II Technician will also play a crucial role in training and guiding Level I Technicians and Assistants. This includes providing on-the-job training, sharing knowledge about the scope and limitations of various NDT methods, and ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary skills to perform their tasks effectively. The technician will be responsible for organizing and reporting the results of NDT activities, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up to date. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, as the technician will be responsible for making critical decisions based on test results. The ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients is essential, as is the capacity to work independently in the field while adhering to safety protocols and industry regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibrations and nondestructive tests according to written instructions.
  • Evaluate results for acceptance or rejection determinations.
  • Set up and calibrate NDT equipment as required.
  • Interpret and evaluate results in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to Assistants and Level I Technicians.
  • Organize and report results of NDT activities accurately.

Requirements

  • Qualified Level II NDT Technician with relevant certifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of NDT methods and their limitations.
  • Experience in calibrating and setting up NDT equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate test results according to industry standards.
  • Strong communication skills for training and reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various NDT methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or radiographic testing.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards related to NDT.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or training role.
