About the position

The Data Center Field Technician III is responsible for assisting with hardware installation, asset tagging, cabling, maintenance, process documentation, and server installation within a data center environment. This role requires a combination of technical skills and the ability to follow established procedures while working under the direction of site operations management. The position is temporary, with a duration of three months and the potential for extension based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Install, move, and decommission hardware including cabinets, power strips, rails, servers, and storage devices.
  • Confirm and label devices, racks, and cables as part of cabling and tagging duties.
  • Utilize ticketing systems to ensure clear, timely, and professional communication with customers.
  • Follow SOPs, program policies, safety protocols, and security policies under the direction of the Site Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed beyond the listed responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, plus 2-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Must respond to on-call requests within 1 hour.
  • Experience with CAT5e, CAT6 copper cable, and multi-mode/single-mode fiber.
  • Knowledge of copper and fiber testers and ability to cable systems following SOP standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with computer hardware.
  • Understanding of networking infrastructures and components.
  • Familiarity with data center best practices such as fault tolerance and cable routing.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with cable management and running fiber and copper cables.
  • Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and bandwidth infrastructures.
  • Ability to operate material-handling equipment if certified.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Outlook, and web browsers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in data center technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical, HVAC, and data center infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of networking components and infrastructures, including Wi-Fi.
