About the position

The Level III Staff RN in Oncology at Kaiser Permanente in San Marcos is responsible for providing professional nursing care as a leader of the healthcare team. This role involves utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures, while demonstrating quality and effectiveness in clinical practice. The RN will mentor and coach team members, develop individualized care plans, ensure patient safety, and maintain a high standard of patient care and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care.
  • Serve as a leader of the healthcare team, delegating tasks appropriately and demonstrating accountability.
  • Develop and contribute to individualized plans of care, ensuring they reflect assessment and evaluation outcomes.
  • Monitor patient progress and revise care plans based on ongoing evaluations.
  • Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding care plans and discharge instructions.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement activities and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Practice customer service standards and ensure a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.

Requirements

  • One (1) year recent full-time equivalent experience in acute care, ambulatory care, or home health/palliative/hospice care.
  • Valid Registered Nurse License in California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Certification or Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Provider Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Vascular access
  • PICC insertion experience within the past 3 years.
