About the position

The Claims Department at Erie Insurance is seeking a Claims Adjuster to handle complex liability issues, including coverage and minor injury claims. This remote position requires independent judgment and discretion in claims handling, with responsibilities that include conducting investigations, evaluating claims, and negotiating settlements. The successful candidate will work within the Columbus, OH territory and may be required to travel for training.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations and evaluate coverage and liability for claims.
  • Set and maintain reserves for claims.
  • Obtain necessary documents to establish the value of claims and negotiate settlements or declines.
  • Document files and submit final reports on claims.
  • Identify subrogation opportunities and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Negotiate with all parties or their representatives within designated authority.
  • Complete required training and mentor new employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of claims or customer service experience, preferably with casualty claims.
  • Equivalent educational experience will be considered.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Appropriate license as required by state.
