About the position

The Claims Adjuster position at Erie Insurance involves exercising independent discretion and judgment in handling complex liability claims, including coverage issues and severe injury claims. The successful candidate will work remotely, ideally residing in the Pittsburgh or Murrysville area, and will also provide support for property claims during peak periods. Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations and evaluate claims regarding coverage and liability.
  • Handle claims involving complex liability, damages, or coverages.
  • Negotiate with all parties or their representatives within designated authority.
  • Document the file and submit reports.
  • Identify subrogation opportunities and initiate appropriate action.
  • Complete required training and provide support for property claims during heavy volume periods.
  • Train and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Five years of casualty claims adjusting experience or equivalent experience in the medical or legal field required.
  • Broad knowledge and expertise in liability coverages, laws, and injuries required.
  • Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) program preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
