About the position

The Claims Adjuster position at Erie Insurance involves exercising independent discretion and judgment in handling complex liability claims, including coverage issues and severe injury claims. This remote role requires conducting investigations, evaluating claims, negotiating with involved parties, and documenting findings. The position also includes training and mentoring responsibilities, particularly during periods of high claim volume, and may require travel for training purposes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations and evaluate coverage and liability for claims.
• Handle claims involving complex liability, damages, or coverages.
• Negotiate with all parties or their representatives within designated authority.
• Document the file and submit reports on claims.
• Identify subrogation opportunities and initiate appropriate actions.
• Provide support for property claims during periods of heavy volume.
• Train and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Five years of casualty claims adjusting experience or equivalent experience in the medical or legal field required.
• Broad knowledge and expertise in liability coverages, laws, and injuries required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) program preferred.
