About the position

The Librarian at McLaughlin Research Corporation will play a crucial role in managing the Classified government material collection at the Corporate Research and Information Center's Technical Library. This position involves overseeing all aspects of Classified Library projects, including maintaining secure spaces, cataloging government documents, and supporting library users with classified material requests. The Librarian will also assist the Reference team in providing research consultations and may engage in digital projects based on their interests and strengths.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Classified government material collection and spearhead all Classified Library projects.
  • Organize and catalog Government Documents and other Classified material.
  • Oversee special Classified material collections and lead inventory initiatives.
  • Support library users with classified material requests and research projects.
  • Provide on-site and remote reference services to Research Commons Library Users.
  • Monitor research and information requests during scheduled shifts.
  • Complete research projects and provide consultations to library users.
  • Support library finances, subscriptions, e-resources, outreach, or Drupal development as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be able to successfully obtain an Active Security Clearance - Secret Level.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of library science.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented, innovative, and proactive with experience working collaboratively and independently.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology for the delivery of library services and awareness of current trends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Experience organizing and cataloging materials.
  • Experience with library material circulation and customer service.
  • Experience providing research consultations and information literacy education.
  • Experience working with a digital repository and associated metadata.
