About the position

The position works under the direction of the Senior Manager and/or the Public Services Supervisor to provide information services and assistance in the use of library resources and facilities to the public. The role involves maintaining and assisting in developing collections, supporting training and collection development, and coordinating specialized projects and collections or programs. The position supports the library's policies, procedures, and goals by providing professional library services, including information services, reader's advisory, and assistance to the public in the use of library services and facilities. Additionally, the role supports and assists in departmental and/or system-wide training of staff, volunteers, and the public, while maintaining awareness of current adult and young adult services, activities, and programs. The position also oversees, coordinates, and serves as a resource person for the development and maintenance of special projects, services, and programs for the department and/or system, and participates in developing the library agency's goals and objectives. The role may require pushing fully loaded carts and shelving books as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information services and assistance in the use of library resources and facilities to the public.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school; or
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university and one (1) year of related professional library experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of related training and experience which enables one to perform the essential duties of the job.
